Evelyn Nicholson is experienced Soprano with a wide range and easy technique, incorporating a beautiful bel canto sound.
Trained at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music with eminent teacher, Andrew Field, Joseph Ward and Carolyn Crawshaw and at the National Opera Studio in London. She has worked with Sena Jurinac at Vienna and with Tito Gobbi during his last masterclasses in London at the Wigmore Hall. She is a winner of the Peter Moores Foundation Prize for Opera .Finally she studied with Soprano Audrey Langford and Sena Jurinac in Vienna.
Evelyn made her debut with Opera North with Don Giovanni on tour. Roles followed with Opera North and with Welsh National Opera. Ernani .She has also made a specialism of Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni appearing later in a Graham Vick production for Scottish Opera and Dr Jonathan
Millers at ENO . She sang the title role in Aida for Opera North's David Pountney production . She has appeared at the Covent Garden Festival in various guises and as Venus and Elizabeth in Tannhauser at the Landestheater Dessau, after appearing in an Opera Gala at Bayreuth.
She has subsequently sung Sieglinde in 'Die Walkure' for the British Wagner Society with Alberto Ramedios , in performances at the Edinburgh Festival, and in London and Norwich, to excellent acclaim and has sung the Creation with the Massed Choirs of Europe at Autun and Vezelay Cathedrals, conducted by Senor Edmon Colomer and filed for French Television. She has also taken part in recitals in France, her specialism being in German Song.
She also takes part in celebrity and Opera concerts throughout the UK and has recently recorded 'O Holy Night' for Christmas 2011. Recent performances of Verdi's Requiem were received with enormous enthusiasm and nine curtain calls.
Following a healthscare but subsequent complete cure, Evelyn has begun to lecture,,take more performances and engage in more musical performances to prepare the Nidus Choir for the winter season.
